 Favorite Cars From the Past

From all the cars you've previously owned.
If you could have only one of them back which one would it be?
First Choice?
Second choice?
Third choice?
===========================
My choices are as follows

1* 1960 Chevy Impala Convertible:Of all the cars I've previously owned.
If I could only have one of them back it would have to be the Black 1960 Chevy Impala Convertible with the white rag top and the red and white interior.
It was one sharp looking machine and a real mover with the 348 engine with 3 duces and a racing cam.

2* 1971Chevelle Malabu Convertible: The closest picture to it that I could find on the net
http://www.hubcapcafe.com/ocs/pages01/chev7201.htm

3* 1950 chevy: This one has a special place in my hart as one of these was my first car.

Don't have it any more but I do have one like it.

Ibrown; Thats a neat post. 1. 61 Chevy, Red, 348 tri power, 4 speed, all go no show.
2. 51 Ford Flathead V8, three on the tree.
3. 49 Hudson Comodore 6, my first car, almost as ugly as some of our new cars, like driving a barge, paid 50 bucks for it in 57 it ran like a champ till it blew a head gasket about every 500 miles. More good memories. Frank.

1. my old 1965 Mustang. It was actually a '64 1/2. The girls liked it and it was fun to drive. I was upset about the straight 6 in it, but dad remembered what he did with his '67 Mustang GT 350 and so kept me out of the V8. Bummer for me, good for his insurance and the police.

I've always preferred tight, responsive handling to straight line performance. I used to slalom my cars. I also like straightforward german engineering. With that in mind, here are my choices

1. 1970 Opel GT. Bored and stroked, high-lift cam, twin weber carbs and headers, bi-amped stereo. Totaled when a guy turned left in front of me in an intersection. RIP

2. 1978 VW Scirocco. Lowered, swaybars, wide wheels and tires, front and rear spoilers, turbocharger with O-ringed heads. Fast and a real handler with unbelievable mileage. Made it from Phoenix to San Diego in four hours once. I loved the simple Bosch CIS fuel injection system.

3. 1967 Buick Skylark. Pretty nondescript car. Two-speed automatic and it liked to overheat. Great for dates though Smile

 Favorite Cars From the Past

1) 1989 Honda Prelude SI
2) 1993 Acura Vigor
3) 1970 Pontiac GTO

The Prelude was a super fun to drive car, because of which I did alot of things that made my wife very nervous in it.

The Vigor was a 5 cylinder, did not handle at all as well as the Prelude, just a very fast smooth 5spd luxury ride.

The Goat was the typical GM rocket with sucky brakes, total missmatch to th HP of the car, nice Hurst 4spd, 10-11 mpg.

Dennis

 Favorite Cars From the Past

It is hard to back track that far. I grew up on the Sunshine Coast in B.C. Having a quarter mile car was a bit of an oxymoron as there was no quarter mile straight on the coast until they straighten some road. We also gravitated to something that was fast and cornered.
1) 1965 Volvo 544 sport with engine transplant to a B20E with twin SUs. Fast and economical (25 mpg – 120+mph)
2) 1988 Volvo 740 turbo with 5 speed. Reliable, fast comfortable transportation (30 mpg-140mph).
3) 1974 Volvo 142 GL 5 speed – not the fastest but a very reliable car, good early fuel injection, predates the bad years 75-79.
Never gravitated to the BMW’s my friends did and they spent more time fixing than driving. Old Volvos were easy to repair and have european driving manners.
